I recall going to Honduras on the eve of the elections, in the 1980s (late) when party primaries were impending, and I had to dive in and get to know one party about to vote. From that moment, the OTHER party identified me as WITH the other party, and though I dined them in my home and enjoyed them, I became a football. I was this, or that, or not. But I was really nothing. Kissinger was not Svengali. Think of the nationalist corruption in those years that fed Kissinger's power -- not American thinking. It was REALPOLITIK. Morality -- not anywhere near there. In Vietnam, Laos, Burma -- corruption helped grease the US skids.
