Yet again a great performance of Mearsheimer. He performed with clarity and delivered his message in as simplistic way as humanly possible. Others were good as well.
I have to give credit to Mearsheimer for his patience and commitment to repeat the message. It's a strong and clear story.
I’m in complete agreement with not only everything John Mearsheimer has had to say about the situation in Ukraine but everything else he’s ever had to say. In my opinion he is exactly correct in everything he’s had to say about all of the issues he’s weighed in on. As a consequence of this we in the US should have been listening closely to what he’s had to say and following his advice.
Having said that, I think it’s also important to examine the root causes root causes of all of these problems. (Otherwise in a way it’s kind of like talking about yesterday’s weather or talking about the symptoms of a decease without trying to find a cure).
This is where my “course” comes in. It examines the roots of these problems and it offers up solutions to try to overcome them. I’d like to turn my “course” into a short documentary film so if anyone would like to help me with that please let me know…
Thank you! I`m often beeing critizised for using different "unrelyable" sources in my arguements regaring the Ukraine war. In this video/conversation the source should be undesputable. We`ll se on the response on SoMe. Hopefully the russiofobia hasn`t taken full controll over peoples mind.
Everything the US and European countries touch turns to shit. Civil wars, resource exploitation, political instability, displacement, land theft, poverty, violence, massive loss of life, corruption and every other evil that exists under these circumstances. Just look at Africa, South America, Central America, Palestine, Haiti, Cuba, the Middle East, the Philippines, Indonesia, etc.
If I were the leader of a country I’d stay away from these war mongering, greedy bastards and never accept their tinkering toys, monopoly money and bullshit democracy propaganda. Just shut the door in their faces. Of course, I’d probably get assassinated too.
It was Anglo American powers that crated the problem in Ukraine. It was cynical sadistic deception and now they try to shift the blame away from themself.. Trump's asking for Ukrainian resources it's a f. cynical insolent nonsense. It's a rape of Ukraine... What I actually think it was the same people who created trouble in Palestine, created the trouble in Ukraine, to divert away people's attention, from the murder in Palestine...
I have rarely heard such outdated colonial ideology expressed in such a deadpan manner.
We fought 2 World Wars to establish, above all other principles, national sovereignty and inviolate borders. The idea that a country should be cowed, and not sovereign, just because it is next door to a great power, would be laughable, if it wasn’t so tragic. It is not surprising that the overwhelming majority of UN member states have repeatedly condemned Russia’s violation of these principles. And the absolute savagery of its attack on the Ukrainian people.
As an Irish person, I know very well that a country will never sacrifice its sovereignty, just because you are next to a “Great Power”.
Furthermore, Russia is no longer a great power. While the EU has been very complacent, relying on the USA for security, it has now of necessity, awoken to the need to re establish military power. There is no doubt that the EU, being in population terms well over 3 times the size of Russia, and absolutely dwarfing Russia economically, is the only “Great Power” in Europe. Now that the EU has been forced by the aboration in USA (which as always will be temporary, as isolationism is even more outdated in the modern globalised world, than it was prior to the 2 world wars), EU, will in the next few years grow militarily much stronger than Russia.
Now that the current bout of isolationism in the USA has completed the fragmentation of the world into spheres of influence, Russia will find that China will be seeking allies with a lot more potential than Russia. In any case, Russia does not have the political cohesion to exert global influence. Its political model does not hold any attraction to modern educated people.
In short, Russia has won a new colony in 20% of Ukraine. But in doing so it has demonstrated how militarily and economically weak it is. This has convinced those, not just in Ukraine, who are seeking a modern life, as in the West, that Russia, in its current form, is very unattractive. People will always fight for the best live for themselves and there descendants. They won’t find it in Putin’s Russia.
Hopefully the Russian people will soon exert their right to a better life in Russia too.
I agree absolutely. Dear John seems much more interested to prove its owns theory than support democracy or freedom. Though he reclaims himself happy to be born in America, where hi is free and self-determined, he doesn't share his 'joy' with other unlucky people in the world. Pity for them, dam them! I suppose Trump is 100% in accord with him. But times for lyrics.
Sorry, 'Bad' bot 'but'. And I know what I'm talking to. I've had the great pleasure to translate the 2 most famous books of John into Catalan. They are amazing. But now, they sound so Putinesc, so Trumpist... It makes me wonder how much wokism had seriously damaged the american society as to admit or support such a barbaric turn.
Of course they all observe and interpreter the seriousness of the situation based upon the history of the conflict and the history of NATO expansion correctly.
NATO countries and those who support them act like a Wolfpack with rabies. Aggressively attacking and killing all opposing their delusional shrinking brains heading for total war, hegemony and of course leading to total destruction. Meanwhile they have vaccinated most of its population against truth and critical thinking with war propaganda and russiofobia 24/7 for more than 20 years.
If, given the original nature of the population, it is desired to establish future "non-problematic" borders, then Odessa should be incorporated into the Russian Federation.

What to expect ?!
Thanks, Dr Mearsheimer for posting this interview.
I always appreciate the Eastern European perspective because they are generally more savvy about politics and history, having lived under Communism.
Thanks for your great work John!
