It was a great show.

I actually found it very moving when you charged Glenn with writing a book to explain how our elites came to act against their own interests. It felt like the passing on of a torch.

Are there propagandists on both sides?

Of course, to answer your oily rhetorical question. Russia is old school, i.e. accentuate the positive, and downplay the negative. The Zionists/West rely on ludicrous fabrications or projecting Ukrainian and Israeli crimes onto Russian and Palestinian victims. Western/Zionist propaganda is so over the top it borders on parody, and yet the creatures lap it up, and demand more.

CIA and Mossad talking points, along with fallacies, are the useful idiots' entire repertoire.

Once you realize Israel has more hackers, more trolls, and other dubious distinctions, than any other state, you realize most 'brainwashed Western parrots' are not brainwashed, at all. They are Israeli bots, pretending to be ex-Tucker fans, etc. most of the time. The Israelis manufacture many of the Trump Jesus memes and videos. The Trump angel memes and videos. Many of you barely comprehend the immense propaganda machine aimed at you.

Why do popular content creators often have more down votes than upvotes? Israeli, and sometimes Ukrainian, bot farms. There is a ZeroHedge Israeli troll, J Zero, who wields 100 down votes per comment, if you annoy him. People need to be aware what is going on, and defend against the bots' insidious influence.

Most people want to fit in with their peers. The bots make the Israeli/Ukrainian positions appear more popular. Do not let them colonize your mind.

Great interview. A subject close to my heart. 👀⬇️

ARTICLE: Inside the Submissive Void — Propaganda, Censorship, Power, and Control, ©️ Greg Maybury

Brief: The use of propaganda and censorship is more frequently associated with totalitarian, corrupt and/or despotic regimes, not modern democracies in the West. Yet the history of how western governments and their ever-vigilant, ever inventive globalist overlords along with their political underlings have controlled the narrative of the time via these means is a long, storied and ruinous one, going back well before 1914.

No matter how clever we imagine ourselves to be, or how mindful we might be of—and from that more consciously resistant to—the corrosive, subversive effects of propaganda and censorship, misinformation, disinformation and the incessant lies of officialdom, we’re all susceptible to the forces they unleash, with complacency, arrogance, presumption, studied ignorance, paranoia, & self-delusion being but a few of them.

Much as the pharmaceutical industry is in the business of poisoning the very life-blood of our physical bodies (on the pretext of protecting our health and well-being), the propagandists and the gatekeepers of the flame it produces are in the business of poisoning the very life-blood of the body politic itself. In their case it’s invariably under the guise of protecting our democracy and preserving our freedom. Or saving us from some vaguely identified, spuriously concocted, yet always existentially threatening, hobgoblin.

Along with serving the contemporaneous political objectives of its perpetrators as contrived, such activities often continue to inform our understanding, and cement our interpretation, of our past. If as Georges Hegel suggested, the only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history, we need look no further as to the main reason why we repeatedly do this.

In this wide-ranging ‘safari’ into the fake news, myth-making, misinformation and disinformation wilderness, Greg Maybury does indeed look further, and concludes that in the main, truth is always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

Why anre American Citizens pay taxes (for a war most of us voted against) to a corrupt Government that Lies to them? Seems like we need a class action suit for breech of fiduciary duties.

A fiduciary relationship is a legal bond where one party (the fiduciary) places special trust, confidence, and reliance in another party who has a duty to act for the benefit of the first party, known as the principal or beneficiary. This relationship is characterized by the fiduciary's obligation to subordinate their personal interests to those of the beneficiary, requiring actions taken in good faith, with loyalty, and with the utmost care.

Such relationships arise when one party has superior knowledge, control, or influence over the other, creating a position of vulnerability for the beneficiary. Common examples include relationships between attorneys and clients, trustees and beneficiaries, corporate directors and shareholders, agents and principals, and doctors and patients. The fiduciary must avoid any conflicts of interest and must not profit from their position without the beneficiary's informed consent.

Public officials act as fiduciaries to the people, meaning they hold delegated powers in trust and are legally and ethically obligated to act solely in the public's best interest, avoiding personal gain or conflicts of interest. This duty encompasses five fundamental responsibilities: loyalty to the Constitution and public good over political parties, reasonable care, impartiality, adherence to instructions (laws), and accountability to the citizenry.

Key aspects of this fiduciary relationship include:

Prohibition of Self-Dealing: Officials must not benefit financially, career-wise, or personally from their office, ensuring that public resources are used exclusively for the common welfare.

Institutional Loyalty: Rather than serving political factions, officials must prioritize the separation of powers, acting as checks on other branches to maintain limited government and protect constitutional rights.

Public Trust: Officials must avoid even the appearance of impropriety, as maintaining public confidence is essential for social order and compliance with laws.

Legal Precedent: While broad "fiduciary duty" litigation is rare in US courts compared to private law, 63C American Jurisprudence and Supreme Court rulings affirm that public officers are trustees of the people, liable for fraud or concealment of material information in their official capacity.

Glen Deesen is not an expert, but he receives money from Putin for propaganda. That's right, he wouldn't talk to you about Iran, he's only being paid for Ukraine, slandering it. And they pay from the budget and with the money of the Russian oligarchs.

jp's avatar

Surely you can enlighten us with your evidence that "Glen Deesen" - whoever that is, is a paid propagandist?

Regular platform on Russian state media: Diesen has been a frequent commentator and contributor to RT (Russia Today), the Kremlin’s main international propaganda channel. In 2021 alone he wrote more than 50 articles for RT and publicly acknowledged that he received a fee for them. After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 he stated he stopped being paid by RT, yet he continued to appear on the channel (dozens of appearances documented in subsequent years).

Institutional ties inside Russia: He worked as a visiting scholar and later professor at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow (2018–2020). He is an editor/associate editor connected to the Moscow-based journal Russia in Global Affairs. He participates in the Valdai Discussion Club (a Kremlin-linked forum) and has spoken there in the presence of Vladimir Putin.

Travel and events funded by Putin-linked structures: Norwegian investigative reporting documented that his travel and accommodation to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) were paid by the foundation “Think Arctic,” which is part of the Roscongress Foundation (closely tied to the Russian presidential administration). He has also been named in leaked Russian documents as a desirable European face for influence-oriented events.

Content pattern: His public commentary consistently tracks core Kremlin narratives on NATO expansion as the primary cause of the war, Western “proxy war” framing, skepticism of Ukrainian agency, and multipolar/Eurasian alternatives. Critics in Norway (including the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, mainstream media, and other academics) have repeatedly described his role as providing Western academic legitimacy to RT and Russian state messaging.

Diesen himself denies being a propagandist. He says he is simply a realist scholar offering balance, that he opposes the war, and that criticism of him is an attempt at censorship and cancellation. Those are his stated positions.

What the public record does not contain is a leaked employment contract or bank transfers proving he is currently on a secret Kremlin payroll as a formal agent. The documented facts are: years of paid and unpaid collaboration with Russian state media, institutional positions inside Russia, travel paid by Putin-linked foundations, and consistent amplification of official Russian foreign-policy framing.

That is the evidence. Whether one interprets the pattern as “independent academic who happens to agree with Moscow” or “useful Western voice for Russian state media” is a judgment call. The record of collaboration itself is not in dispute.

I've been fed so much Western propaganda. Americans are swimming in it. A little Russian propaganda is a refreshing change of pace.

One way to judge whether someone is a propagandist is by their track record. Mearsheimer has an excellent track record as a truth teller in the face of withering attacks from propagandists. So, perhaps Diesen is a propagandist-- just not a very good one. Someone should tell him that Mearsheimer is not on the payroll and he should seek to platform those with a stronger aversion to the truth.

Aelinel & Emily Harper's avatar

Oh, how refreshing. “A little Russian propaganda is a pleasant change of scenery.”

I’ve actually lived in Russia. Let me tell you what that “pleasant change” looks like up close.

When Ukrainian drones hit the city I lived in, one person was killed and ten were injured. Federal state media? Complete silence. Nothing. Zero. As if it never happened. The only coverage came from a couple of regional outlets — and even those were careful not to say too much.

A fire from the strike burned for three days. Three. Days. Again — almost nothing on the national channels. Just the usual carefully curated reality where Russian cities somehow never get hit, never suffer, and never look bad on camera.

That’s the product you’re calling a “pleasant change.” Not journalism. Not “another perspective.” Just selective erasure of anything that doesn’t fit the official story.

You praise Mearsheimer for “speaking truth despite fierce attacks.” Fair enough — he has a real academic track record. But holding up Russian state media as some kind of honest counterweight to Western propaganda is like saying the solution to one set of lies is a thicker set of lies.

Enjoy the change of scenery. Just don’t confuse it with reality.

Cheers.

How horrible. I have nothing to compare, but I'll offer this: My country invented the Coronavirus. When one branch of the government outlawed this research, another branch secretly shipped the whole project to China.

When the project leaked from the lab they picked, the government invented a story that it came from a bat in a Chinese wet market. They sold that story to the whole world. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, died. It's difficult to tell because our government peddled phony data about what counted as a "Covid death," including phony tests designed to find the Corona virus in every thing (even the inventor of this test pointed this out).

Then, the government tried to convince everyone that they invented a vaccine. If you got the vaccine, you couldn't get sick from the virus or spread it. And, the government attacked effective treatments like Ivermectin and hydroxychloraquine because they might undermine uptake of this vaccine.

They mandated that everyone get this vaccine, with few exceptions. To this day, no one knows whether more people were killed by the virus or the vaccine.

When people started asking too many questions, our government invited Ukraine to join NATO, which our diplomats secretly said was "the brightest of red lines" for Russia. They knew it would provoke a Russian invasion but the government told everyone the invasion was totally unprovoked. We know this because someone leaked secret diplomatic cables that said exactly this. (The government then blamed Russia for leaking these cables, even though Wikileaks said it was not Russia.)

Once the war started, our government promised it would blow up the Nordstream pipeline. When the pipeline was blown up -- one of the biggest environmental disasters in history-- our government claimed Russia blew up its own pipeline.

More recently our government bombed Iran in June of 2025 and claimed it "completely obliterated" Iran's nuclear program, which our Intel agencies said was not trying to develop a nuclear weapon . Then, 8 months later, it claimed we had to go back to war with Iran to further eliminate the nuclear program it obliterated a few months earlier.

Pravda's got nothing on the US government.

Aelinel & Emily Harper's avatar

Wow. What an impressive, comprehensive list.

You’ve managed to collect almost every single talking point that Russian state television has been repeating for years — COVID lab origin as an American plot, vaccines as the real killer, NATO “provoking” Russia into invading Ukraine, the US blowing up Nord Stream, and now the Iran storyline — and presented it as personal insight from someone supposedly drowning in “Western propaganda.”

Let’s take a few of the greatest hits:

- COVID: The lab-leak hypothesis is a legitimate subject of debate. The claim that the U.S. government invented the virus, secretly moved the entire project to China, and then invented a cover story about a wet market is not “debate.” It’s a conspiracy theory that has never been substantiated by any serious investigation.

- Vaccines: Yes, there were overreaches, censorship, and some bad policy decisions. That does not mean the vaccines killed more people than the virus. Large-scale data from multiple countries showed a clear reduction in severe disease and death among the vaccinated. The “no one knows which killed more” line is pure rhetorical fog.

- Ukraine: Russian officials spent years calling NATO expansion a red line. That is true. What is also true is that the decision to launch a full-scale invasion in 2022 was made in Moscow, not in Brussels or Washington. “They forced us to invade” is not a serious explanation of agency.

- Nord Stream: Multiple theories exist. The version in which the United States blew up the pipeline and then successfully framed Russia remains, to this day, an unproven claim pushed hardest by those who benefit from it politically.

The pattern is hard to miss. Every major crisis of the last six years is somehow the fault of the American government, while Russia is consistently portrayed as the rational actor merely reacting to Western provocations. That worldview has a very specific geographic origin, and it isn’t Kansas.

You say you’ve been fed Western propaganda. Interesting. Because what you just wrote reads like it was downloaded straight from the Olgino content farm and lightly polished for an English-speaking audience.

A pleasant change of scenery, indeed.

The section on propaganda was great. And you nailed it with this has never changed for the US. Propaganda is a rolling opportunistic entity for politicians... when the old throughline is worn out, it switches, and often to previously used propaganda from decades or more before. Propaganda serves profit motive of many flavors. It's enjoyable when you speak existentially like this, geting to the first things.

How about a joint Diesen/Mearsheimer book, or alternatively an edited volume with contributions from key thinkers...hmm interesting to contemplate :)

Holy of Holies! Jehadi Johnnie out to extirpate every last Ukrainian in totally singing concert with 1000 years of Kremlin Muscovy Ethnics has a Junior Jehadi Glennie.

Like Baghdad Bob before him, Jehad Johnnie has a "mission to blab" ( and Moscow handler ) to save Ukrainians from having all their stolen soil, Ukraine's ancient land, returned by the inter-generational thieves of 1000 years: the Muscovy of Moscow!

Can one believe that General Ben Hodges is even from the same country? Please, do try to listen to the podcast that General Ben Hodges recently composed on the imminent collapse in this summer 2026 logistic window of the whole arc of war that Jehad Johnnie so fervently preaches.

As a real General, Ben Hodges discloses why the 2 basic cons of Putin to seize Crimea in 2014 are now terminated.

The first con was that Sevastopol was the Muscovies to seize, as they, the Ethnic tribe, had a genetic need to create a Mediterranean projection of Kremlin Muscovy naval power.

The second con was that the WEST must believe the deceptive Muscovy narrative of restoration of their exclusive ethnic presence, their permanent control of every square inch of the Crimea. After all, the Muscovy have been exclusive owners of Ukraine + Crimea for the last 3000 years. NOT!

Putin spent the biggest cash pile on his Permanent monument, the 'Kerch Bridge', the tangible mental manifestation to the international observer that, as of 2014, Moscow magically extends physically all the way across the salt water to old Constantinople.

General Hodges reveals in clear step by step the how + why Ukrainians have worked hard militarily to make Crimea a trap for Moscow's 35-40,000 troops + millions of parasite KOLONIZERS who invaded back in 2014.

That Jehad Johnnie can tout ethnic violence and then claim it is pro-Ukrainian is proof on the same level of veracity that the PRC has not demolished thousands of mosques owned by Uighers for centuries and has NO policy of Genocide directed at the aboriginal natives of the land the HAN stole, the Uighers.

Jehad Johnnie can always glibly advocate the donation of any and all ancient Ukrainian soils to the genetic need of the Muscovy to commit Genocide of Ukrainians. Somehow the City of Chicago, the University of Chicago, the State of Illinois structures, all find that Mearsheimer's glib podcasting of advocating the donation of Ukrainian soil totally acceptable.

Is it because the 2014 advocate of capitulation to the covert, unilateral 'GREEN' light facilitation of the Balkanization of independent Ukraine was the legal POTUS from Chicago?

The US General Hodges deals with rational military facts if one reviews his podcasts. The US fantasizer Jehad Johnnie has self-created his inner mission to reveal to his fellow Doodle Dandies the 'true believers' way to refuse to return all the stolen Ukrainian soil that POTUS Obama capitulated in 2014 to the prime vile COLD War enemy of the USA, Muscovy Putin!!

Maybe Jehad Johnnie can advise MAGA POTUS Trump + his elite how to extort the Ukrainians to give up 75 trillion in USD of stolen Ukrainian resources that legal POTUS Obama facilitated the theft of. If MAGA POTUS TRUMP can get his 'big guy' share of about 7.5 Trillion in USD donated to his blood relatives, then the Prof could receive a huge donation of that Ukrainian cash for his own fantasy expenditures.

Or, General Hodges is realistic as Siberian Winter approaches a stolen Crimea still packed with International war criminals + mass atrocity perpetrators. The Muscovy all face processing for trial but all have no PUTIN supplied electricity, no water, no gasoline but all in possession of stolen FREE Ukrainian real estate facilitated to the revanchists by 2014 POTUS Obama.

Maybe the Prof and his sidekick academic can start to fundraise cash from academia to expedite war criminal trials before the accused 'big + little fish' war criminals all die of exposure + hyperthermia as if was 1945.

The genocide committed by the Imperial German forces in Namibia happened just a few years before the start of The Great War. Therefore, it was hard not to portray the Germans as pure evil. The two world wars were really a 35-year conflict between the colonial powers, with a lull in the middle. The Nazi regime was a continuation of the German empire. Just because the victims of the Nazi crimes were European does not make the crimes any more heinous than those committed against the colonies. The British were not any better, but as Prof. Meirsheimer stated, they were (and are) the master of propaganda.
