Richard. Assassinating the guy you are negotiating peace with, added to the fact that it was an attack in a foreign country demonstrates why Israel is a pariah country. Paying off every U.S. Congressman through AIPAC Is the great payola that is an affront to American democracy. While I was exercising my right as a U.S. citizen to petition my government by marching in DC, Netanhayu had the gall, while in Congress to say Me and others were paid for by Iran. Raping and murdering Palestinians in Israeli jails where there has been no due process, demonstrates the barbaric character of Israel. So, you approve the genocide being implemented by Israel, and since you do, what in God's name are you doing here? However while you are here what did you think of those Israeli soldiers repeatedly sodomizing an inmate. Do you think he fucked with them first, and if so they were justified. That's where your sick "logic" goes.

Try a thought experiment. Take an ordinary Palestinian who heads into Israel to have his way killing, mutilating and raping both live and dead Jewish women on October 7. Returns home to a hero’s welcome, is feted with applause, social approval, cash, lifetime stipends from UN, and, eventually, unlimited virgins in wherever the heck Islamic hero’s go after the IDF eliminates him.

Compare to the social anathema treatment, criminal charges and assuredly punishment in Israel for such a crime against a jailed Palestinian.

Which is the more just society? Which do you approve of once the applause in one and punishment in the other is meted out?

Expand full comment

No one had a hero's welcome, and those who resided in Gaza, men, women and children mostly, as well as Hamas, were greeted with an on going military assault which Israel continues to implement to this day, and is rightly defined as a genocide .

Why you have a need to justify the brutality inflicted on this man, who was sodomized, repeatedly which by the way is not uncommon in prisons that jail Palestinians. Sickening. Palestinians can rot there for years without any allegations against them, and brutality is common place. By the way your accusations as to what happened to Israeli's on Oct 7 is inaccurate and one inaccuracy is that women were raped. Since they also implemented the Hannibal Elective Israel killed many of their own. Also one would think you would express outrage that not only was Israel forewarned of the Hamas attack on a number of levels, but those warnings were ignored. The young women monitoring the gate, also reported behavior they thought suspicious, ignored and quite a few were killed since the military was not there to protect them when the assault occurred. In order to develop a good perspective on what happened and what is happening now you have to be informed of the facts.

"May God be merciful with him," his father told NPR. "To be a martyr is a huge thing, and this is what he pursued. I hope God accepts him as a martyr."

“The Israeli military released a recording it says was a phone call — placed during the attack — from one of the attackers to his family back in Gaza.

"Your son killed Jews," the voice says. "Ten with my own hands, mom!"

"Oh my son, may God protect you," a woman's voice answers in tears.

"Enough. Come back, come back," a man's voice says.

"What do you mean come back?" the son says. "There is no coming back. It's either martyrdom or victory."”

Both quotes from an NPR article. This is too easy. Heroes welcome. Although those two came back dead as a door nail as the saying goes. The Palestinians are a death cult. Their youth are tough to hate the Jews and that their existence is to kill Jews and destroy Israel. There will be no peace for them. A new study led by researchers at Vanderbilt found that 83% of lesbian, gay, bisexual and queer (LGBQ) individuals reported going through adverse childhood experiences such as sexual and emotional abuse, and worse mental health as adults when compared to their heterosexual peers. Also applies to straight children as well.

Aside from the more vocal responses to your post which I’m guessing you expected, I find it odd that you would not do some research when you have such a valuable resource as Professor Mearsheimer to give you some facts David.

There is no doubt that Iran and Israel would like to destroy each other if they could but they can’t. Instead through lobby influence, they are counting on the US to clean up the mess as Israel is unable to fight these countries without help, like my 2 year old toddler who throws a tantrum and asks Daddy to pick up the pieces.

Interesting how Joe Biden became such a big pretend liberal since his "presidential win", since being liberal was not a thing of his past. Now, he has opened up our borders, supported Black Lives Matter even while cities burned, and on and on, and yet he and his administration are supporting a genocide implemented by a country that sees the people they are killing as little more, or perhaps less then animals. He more then anyone through his political career has gotten more money from AIPAC then most which is also supporting Israel's killing fields. Leave out democracy in referencing the US and things will be less confusing.

When is the last time Iran attacked Israel? The last time I can recall was when they launched some missiles that were old, and were quickly knocked out, and that was sometime ago. So enough with the Iran regularly attacks Israel bullshit. Iran behaves with admirable integrity and restraint in the face of egregious provocations by Israel.

Expand full comment

And, let’s not forget that the restrained barrage of missiles on April 14th was a direct response to the provocation of Israel’s April 1st destruction of an Iranian Embassy, killing many civilians.

These are the methods being used to incite war.

Israel has assassinated numerous Arab leaders, among them two principal negotiators.

One must conclude that Israel has no interest in negotiations.

As always, Israel will say that it is defending itself, and that everyone is so unfair to it. This is contradicted by the known facts.

If you have any interest in peace or justice, please note of all of these facts, verify them for yourself, so that later histories will make sense.

Israel has not defeated Hamas, and has not freed their hostages. It has no chance of victory against Hezbollah, much less against Iran. It is provoking these wars knowing,(or at least, believing), that the US is committed to assisting them.

The only sane way forward is peace through negotiation. This is the one thing Netanyahu does not want, and so it must be forced on him. Enough is enough.

“One must conclude that Israel has no interest in negotiations.”

Israel has an interest in destroying Hamas and, if required, Hezbollah. An interest in winning the Islamic war against it. As I’ve said, a people ( the “Palestinians “) that start AND LOSE 4-5, however calculated, wars with a country is destined for diaspora. Those are geopolitical catastrophes from which no comeback is happening. They are destined to become in future generations to be Egyptian, Lebanese, Syrian, Jordanian etc.

Oh. This is rich. Every child in Israel is taught to believe that Palestinians are subhuman; that Arabs are too stupid to know that they actually want to be slaves, and it’s the Jews who have to teach them the error of their ways. And Israel goes on a 10 month long killing spree where it targets children and women in particular, destroys the entire civilian infrastructure of Gaza, cuts off food, water, electricity, medicine, everything and won’t let any of it in; thumbs its nose at the world; violates every international law regarding human rights; I can’t even go on, and you wonder why Arab or Iranian negotiators don’t want to shake their hands? I can tell you I won’t eat a meal with an Israeli or be in the same room as one, and I’m as American as apple pie.

Why would an Iranian, heir to a magnificent history and 5000 year old culture want anything to do with a jumped up little bullshit artist from Israel, whose been killing Muslims for years and fomenting nothing but trouble in The Middle East ever since 1948?

He was also the lead negotiator at a critical point for hostage negotiations and his killing in a country’s capital during a presidential inauguration shows the current Israeli government had no interest in a ceasefire having failed their stated objectives of disabling hamas military wing and want to start something bigger.

The point being made is that this is not good for Israel and making a bigger mess will not increase Israel’s security, will not stop the Israeli brain drain (citizens leaving), and is not to the US interest. However as our politicians are unable to oppose the US Israeli lobby, we will be backing whatever the US does. It would be nice however if the Israeli government could be pressured into not making things worse for them and the United States.

Expand full comment

I've seen very effective lobbying on occasion and it can move the ball enough to change outcomes but to say that politicians are not able to push back is factually wrong. No amount of clever marketing or pressure changes things that much.

Interesting point about the brain drain. It was many years ago that I spoke to a young man who left Israel because of pessemism on prospects for peace. He was basically abandoning ship and I am not so sure I would not do so too. Still, if people are prepared to fight for liberal hegemony (even if imperfect), I'm inclined to support them when they are attacked. That is the "least bad" option in a world of bad options. Politicians have to "dress it up" to make it sound better than that, but that is what it comes down to.

The revelation of systematic anal rape of Palestinian detainees by IDF soldiers seems like an ideal opportunity to shrug off a Zionist blackmailer if you're a member of Congress. "I can no longer support the State of Israel in good conscience after the revelation of these heinous crimes." If anyone criticizes you, you could just ask "Do you support the systematic anal rape of Palestinians by the IDF?" All bets would be off, and if you're a venal, immoral Congressman, you could at least make AIPAC double your payoff to get you back on board. Why doesn't every interviewer ask Biden at every interview, "Do you condemn the systematic anal rape of Palestinian detainees by the IDF?" "What is the President's current stance on systematic anal rape?" "What is the White House's policy on widespread support of systematic retaliatory anal rape amongst 47 percent of the Israeli population?" "Has the White House considered a change of policy on systematic profilactic anal rape?" Every single question to any employee of the USG should contain the words "anal rape" until the influence of this lobby is taken down at least to the level of say, the National Association of Mortgage Lenders.

Before speculating on why (Kursk), you have to identify who.. who planned it? Who is capable of strategically plotting the incursion (not Ukraine); identifying targets, reacting to the Russian response? (not Ukraine). Modern warfare is not a free for all.

NATO weapons, tanks, bombs, launching systems, engineering equipment were used. Western surveillance and guidance was/is used. Apparently, mercenaries (French, Polish) were also used. This was a (NATO) operation.

So what were the objectives, possibly?

Regardless of opinion by those who have very little understanding of the complexity of the entire region what appears to be lost on all is ultimately what Israel will end up very afraid of is the …….. Today's 20s should determine what the world will be like for the next 40-60 years. All people like to live in comfort, in their familiar world. And it is easy to confuse a person with the news, especially from biased sources, but if they understand the trends, they will maintain their ability for deduction. Our task today is to be in the modern information flow, to be able to use the acquired knowledge ("keys") as guidelines in practical activities and everyday life. According to the forecasts of the McKinsey Institute, by 2030 from 400 million to 800 million people, mainly in Europe, will lose their jobs. This will lead to a sharp drop in blue—collar incomes by 26-56%. If the main victim of AI and cheap foreign labour is primarily blue—collar workers, then the main impact of robotics will be somewhat higher - on the "intellectual" part of the middle-class layer: engineers, lawyers, accountants, machine operators and even teachers. The result will be: a) a sharp deterioration of the life style, impoverishment of certain segments of the middle stratum and maintenance employees , some of whose representatives will certainly join the ranks of the precariat (a class of socially unsettled people who do not have guaranteed employment); b) the impoverishment of the already poor to poverty; c) the emergence of not just a layer, but, as emphasized in the IMF report, a caste of the unemployed.

There are especially many young people and women among the precariums. The feminization of work (and in general the feminization//neutral-genderalisation of life) is a very important aspect of precarization. Reproductive functions will be the priority of the women from developing countries. And sooner or later, the politicians held on strings by the corporations, like the infamous Black Rock, will be swept away by the wrath of the ever hungry new poor and social migrants. In the case of Israel, it will be lead by Hezbollah. Like the CIA-fed Bin Laden, it will turn the weapons given to it against those who gave them to her. The unified anger of the Arabs will sweep away modern civilization. The history of the Roman Empire highlights the peculiarities of the trend.

The probability that Schwab and Co will come up with a new breakthrough solution is somewhere 5-7%. The end of history might be right there. But even if the US military lobby project manages to keep the corporative civilization afloat , this world is destined to exist for no more than 2-3 generations. Because they will be overwhelmed by this new barbarians. And we can't do anything about it.

Over the past 40 years, American cinema has been clearly dominated by two themes - zombies and the planet of the apes, on which dozens of films have already been made. The zombie theme reflects the African roots of a significant part of social migrants - with their cults and fears and modern methods of psychosocial manipulation of the masses of an urbanized society. New films about the planet of the apes are the message of the clairvoyants.

I think the Ukrainian move to capture territory in Kursk is a smart one as long as they don't stretch their supply line so far that their soldiers get trapped because they advanced too much. Ukraine should now just dig in and mine the whole place as much as the Russians have mined their land. The advance in Kursk may not have a military objective but it would be an excellent bargaining chip in negotiations. India has had three wars with Pakistan in the last 70 years and this is exactly the move they have made each time. India initially loses ground to Pakistan in Kashmir (which is the disputed territory) because Pakistan has the height advantage, but Indians always take a lot of unrelated land in the plains, so that they have something to bargain with in the negotiations which inevitably take place.
