John, you say that the West has lost patience with Ukraine and US will not be supporting or funding Ukraine with the same vigor as before-- you say “those days are over”.
What would it take for that posture to occur in the case of Israel? As Chomsky once said, the “Godfather” (US) needs to let go. What conditions need to occur for that to happen, ie economic, geopolitical, military, etc? What has to happen for US to say enough with Israel?
Chomsky is not a realist,, he's a liberal. He has so much insight on domestic power struggles but often makes errors on international stuff. For instance, Chomsky thinks US-Israeli ties come entirely for strategic reasons (in the Cold War it smashed Arab Nationalism in the 6 day war. Mearsheimer explains clearly why Israel is currently more of a strategic problem for the US. and was so fascinated by the close relationship that he wrote a famous book on it, concluding that it was due to an very powerful lobby-group in the US (mostly AIPAC and Christian zionists).. Israel acts with impunity because the Lobby is extremely influential in the US (especially given it represents a foreign country). Im certain he'd tell you to break the link you have to break the power of the lobby (the obvious way would be to shine a load of light on their excessive influence and how that harms the US, so that representatives and presidents feel it's bad politics to be seen to be taking money from and soliciting advice from them.
