I see the Hasbara, ie. the state financed Israel trolls, are out in numbers here. Belittling genocide and ignoring xxxl war crimes. What a despicable mob!
John, even on the day after Israel kills one of the world's leading lights of evil, you still won't let up.
Israel can save Western Civilization from the barbarian Muslim hordes. But I'm not sure it can save Western Civilization from the Western ruling class.
Israel can kill many innocent women and children but that does not mean they will have peace and a normal life. Good luck with that. A genocidal regime will never have peace.
Of course, the West and US can rein-in Israel - they just don't want to, even though the majority of ordinary citizens abhor Israel's horrific, anti-human actions in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon, and want nothing to do with it. But perhaps the principals, the LEADERS of the West, are motivated by an irrational fear and envy of Iran? Can they really believe that Hamas is beyond the pale, or doesn't have as much legitimacy as the IDF that has in fact caused far, far more death and destruction? Is economics the howling dogs at their heels? Consider the oil fields: they will lose that front along with their humanity. As for the purely human fallout, this persecution of Gaza and Palestinians will come back to haunt the West some day, perhaps sooner than we think. But the wealthy moguls behind this inhuman persecution who don't give a damn about people, especially when they are thousands of miles away and of a different religious (political) belief, will likely avoid the worst of it. They should be aware that evil, accumulating like a toxic cloud, rains down and affects us all eventually, and it rots the soul.
I think JM and his host are wrong on the ‘genocide’ characterization. Make a list of all the wars you can think of, the last 200-300 years. Then for each, look up the ratio of noncombatant to combatant deaths. Put them all together and you will get a number, an average (do the median, if you prefer). And the war in Gaza is right on the average. Genocides take a Much high proportion of civilians/noncombatants. This narrative has diluted, to our cost, the concept proposed by Lemkin. Wars Do This. This is what wars do. And it’s maybe the best reason to not start them, and the best reason to look for one coming, and engage in ways to stop them from happening.
Genocide is something different from war. When you kill 17000 children and bomb hospitals, churches, and mosques, making the entire region uninhabitable, it is a genocide indeed, no matter how many "combatants" you kill. It is the aim of the military campaign that matters, and the aim is clearly ethnically cleanse Gaza, so it is a genocide. If turkey had killed some armenian partisans after their genocide, it would have not make it somethimg else than genocide. If Japan had killed some more chinese soldiers, how on earth could it change the fact that incidents like the Nanjing massacre were genocide?
Despite relentless criticism from his detractors, Prime Minister Netanyahu has proven to be a remarkable leader who refuses to bow to external pressure to de-escalate in the face of a ruthless enemy. Today, Israel demonstrated to the world the triumph of good over evil, delivering a decisive blow with the elimination of Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind behind the October 7th attacks.
Here is his address following this pivotal moment:
“Citizens of Israel, a year ago we celebrated the festival of Sukkot. At exactly that moment, Yahya Sinwar was making the final preparations for the slaughter of October 7.
I stand before you today to tell you that Yahya Sinwar has been eliminated. The one who carried out the worst massacre in the history of our people since the Holocaust, the mass murderer who murdered thousands of Israelis, abducted hundreds of our people, was eliminated today by our heroic soldiers.
Today, as we promised we would, we settled accounts with him.
Today, evil suffered a heavy blow, but our mission is not yet completed.
To the dear hostage families, I say: This is an important moment in the war. We will continue with full force until all your loved ones — our loved ones — are returned home. That is our supreme obligation. That is my supreme obligation
To the residents of Gaza, I say: Sinwar destroyed your lives. He told you he was a lion but in practice, he hid in a dark tunnel and was eliminated when he fled in a panic from our soldiers.
His elimination is an important milestone in the demise of the Hamas axis of evil.
I want to say again as clearly as possible: Hamas will not rule again in Gaza. This is the beginning of the day after Hamas, and this is an opportunity for you, residents of Gaza, to finally be free of its tyranny.
To the terrorists of Hamas, I say: Your leaders are fleeing and will be eliminated.
I say to all those who are holding our hostages: Those who put down their weapons and leave our hostages, we will allow them to come out and live. And by the same token, I say, those who harm our hostages, his blood is on his head and we will settle accounts with him.
The return of the hostages is an opportunity to achieve all of our goals, and it brings the end of the war nearer.
To the people of the region, I say: In Gaza, in Beirut, in the streets of the entire area, the darkness is withdrawing and the light is rising.
Deif, Haniyeh, Sinwar, Nasrallah, Mohsen, Aqil and many of their partners are no more.
I call on you, peoples of the region: We have a great opportunity to thwart the axis of evil and to create a different future, a future of peace, a future in which the entire region thrives. Together we can push away the curse and advance the blessing.
It’s now clear to all, in Israel and the world, why we insisted not to stop the war — why we insisted, in the face of all the pressures, yes to go into Rafah, the fortified stronghold of Hamas, where Sinwar and many of the mass-murderers were hiding.
I want to express deep appreciation to the fighters of the IDF and the Shin Bet, and their commanders, for their determined and brave operations. There are none better than them.
Today we again showed what happens to those who hurt us. Today, we again showed the world the victory of the good over the evil.
But the war, the war, my dear ones, is not yet finished. It is harsh and it takes a heavy price from us. I want to send from the bottom of my heart my condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I want to embrace the families of our fallen heroes. Their ultimate sacrifice, including in these very days, brings us closer to victory.
As King David said, “I will pursue my enemies and destroy them. And I will not turn back until they are wiped out.”
Citizens of Israel, we are in the war of revival. We still face immense challenges. We need stamina, unity in the ranks, courage, determined resilience. Together we will fight and with God’s help, together we will win.”

After navigating through extensive paperwork and permits, just in time for Sukkos, Lieutenant Yehoshua Rubin, a chaplain serving with Carrier Air Wing Nine, successfully erected a fully kosher Sukkah on board using wood pallets attached together. A fighter jet whose wing protruded above the sukkah was duly moved to make the sukkah kosher.
The Sukkah will provide Jewish servicemen with a place to observe the mitzvah of sukkah, including the shaking the lulav and esrog, which Rubin received just in time after they were flown in from Bahrain.

In my “course” I determine the reasons why the phenomenon John and the judge are talking about occur and what the best way to try to prevent the occurrence of these things. To cut to the chase, the bottom line is that when you allow spineless cowards who are also jerks (narcissists) to run the show and you give them a little bit of power, or in this case a lot of power, more often than not you end up with a situation that isn’t “nice” which is better known as a disaster. This is a fairly predictable pattern.
(At its extreme is the observation that “the more narcissistic someone is and the more power they have the more likely the situation is to end in total disaster”).
The class in my course that examines this overall phenomenon is made up of YouTube videos of M. Scott Peck, Frank Yeoman, Jason Stanley and Brian Klaas. Together these people’s presentations lay out the basic reasons as to why this phenomenon tends to happen.
My course goes on to explain the best way to try to overcome this phenomenon as well as others that are related to it.
One thing to keep in mind is that the advancement of AI will act as an accelerant to these types of problems and that’s why it’s important to try to get ahead of it.
The Professor should be happy to know that I regularly make sure to ascertain his views, which are most important for me to form my opinion.
However, often when the topic of China arises, I think the Professor could benefit from seeking further information and advice from eg., Ambassador Chas Freeman or Prof Kishore Mahbubani. They may eg. provide additional information on which obligations the US entered into when transferring diplomatic relationships from Taipei to to Beijing. With their knowledge they could make a comprehensive case about how the US is in substantial breach of these agreements. They could also provide an outlook on probable future behaviour of China based on its past.
Everyone knows that the communiques were ambiguous with regard to Taiwan. Some have argued that US breached by increasing military sales. It's been awhile since I've read but they definitely did not anticipate the Chinese military buildup so China breached first in my opinion.
It's really not worth talking about as diplomatic ageements like that do not mean that much. Russia didn't follow Budapest Memorandum. US would have breached it too if it had a vital need although I expect it would have explicitly said so in advance.
I would add that despite the fact that individuals cannot agree upon first principals doesn’t mean that there isn’t a best way forward.
Additionally, even though war or the threat of war will not be taken off the table anytime soon, it is the actually engagement in war that is the problem rather than the threat of war.
As a result of these two facts, in my opinion, it is job number one for the world’s top leaders to be reasonable, rational and to do the right thing. This in turn tends tends to leads to taking the best way forward at every turn with all things both big and small. Of course the big things are what matters the most. And the most powerful people in the world have the ability to move the needle on the direction of that which is the best way forward more than those without that type of power.
And so that is why my course is so important because it’s a roadmap or playbook as to how to try to achieve that end in the most efficient and logical way.
It’s theoretical but it’s based on reality and the reality of human nature. And as we all know human nature can be played upon for both good outcomes, neutral outcomes or outcomes that aren’t so good.
It’s the job of our top leaders to try to make sure that the best outcomes are achieved.
Will Biden secure his legacy by striking Iran? This question could define his presidency.
Iran, a regime long responsible for destabilizing the Middle East, killing American soldiers, holding U.S. hostages, and arming Russia in its war against Ukraine, is now vulnerable. Its strategy of indirect warfare has backfired, leaving it exposed after Israel has neutralized Hamas and Hezbollah, and following the assassinations of Haniyah, Nasrallah, and now Sinwar.
Biden has the power to destroy Iran’s nuclear, ballistic missile, and drone programs without sending American troops into harm’s way. Equipped with 50,000-pound bunker busters, American B2 bombers could destroy Iran’s fortified underground nuclear facilities.
This moment presents Biden with the chance to cement his legacy as the president who took decisive action to end one of the world’s most dangerous regimes, one that not only threatens the Middle East but also arms Russia against Ukraine and sells underpriced oil to China, giving it an economic advantage and making it an increasingly threatening adversary.
By joining Israel, the U.S. can help the Iranian people reclaim their country and deliver a decisive blow to an axis of evil.
The question remains: Will Biden act, or will Israel be left to face this challenge alone?

Western civilisation? The supporting of ethnic cleansing is hardly taking the moral high ground as to what is evil.
Israel can kill many innocent women and children but that does not mean they will have peace and a normal life. Good luck with that. A genocidal regime will never have peace.
Looks as good as one could hope in Middle East in view of Oct. 7th attack on Israel.
1) Hamas and Hezbollah not gone but degraded/humiliated enough to give hope that peace will emerge eventually.
2) Bunker buster bombs demonstrated for benefit of Iran in Yemen.
US and Israel are ruthless, Hamas barbarous, and Hezbollah close to barbarous but it may just work out for good.
The Empire is ruthless. https://open.substack.com/pub/rationalspirituality/p/zionism-the-abominable-golden-calf?r=g6u5j&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
