I feel fortunate to listen to Professor Mearsheimer, almost as good as being in one of his classes. I especially appreciate his analysis of American foreign policy (although that term seems to be an oxymoron these days) in reference to the Middle East and Ukraine.
No one outside Israeli inner councils can say for sure, but the guess that fits best seems to be that the apparently oblivious lunacy of Israel’s open war crimes constitutes a race to obliterate Gaza while defying the world to take action against the slaughter. With fait accompli, what action will the world dare to take?
We are led by the least and worst among us, and plainly the Kahanists have control of Israeli politics for the moment. If we cannot find or craft a handle for putting mature minds in charge, the US will finish this half of the 21st century a wheatena republic of the third order.
