Screaming into the wind. Hard to fight an enemy supported by trillions of dollars backed solely by debt and printing ink.

All to keep the financial laundry that is Ukraine alive for the fascists made up of the US and its obedient dogs of the western Europe.

Read your article in Le Monde diplomatique. You made a strong case for realism.

Quite a meshing of perspectives with Col. Douglas Macgregor.

John, we know you're the top of the league in political analysis, but what are your thoughts on the fact that Russia now controls the lion's share of Ukraine's energy reserves and how this affects the course of the conflict?

You've been a critical resource for understanding this conflict. At each stage, I've found your analyses address aspects that I'd not previously considered.

It is a boon to have you here on Substack.

Thrilled and honored to see Prof. Mearsheimer, the Doyen of Realism, on substack. Mearsheimer is about 80% correct, but given current information realities could be more flexible and adaptive and become 90% correct, simply by comparing facts to his predictions and adjusting. Ideas explain reality but don't generally create it. Ukraine will win.

As far as I can tell it's a very sound translation (something one would be wrong to take for granted).

The Burns quotation, however, is missing "knuckedraggers" & "Putin’s sharpest liberal critics". Perhaps this was cut for reasons of space, but in a way it's the best part.

I like the newspaper's insert: "John Mearsheimer is a leading figure in international relations. The Ukraine war — which is increasingly bringing into direct conflict the world's two biggest nuclear powers, Russia & the US, but also involves the European Union, China & India — should constitute ample reason for governments & media around the world to turn to Prof. Mearsheimer for his views. That, however, is not the case, particularly in France, where news about the Ukraine conflict resembles an endless propaganda campaign designed to justify the EU's growing commitment to supporting Kiev. This editorial stance would appear to prohibit any dissident analysis of the war. Le Monde diplomatique, by contrast, has asked Prof. Mearsheimer to present his analysis of events."

No idea why they say "particularly" in France, for this prohibition is virtually Europe-wide. The scale of the propaganda campaign is deeply alarming. True, we're all being ruled by the same "liberal" elites, who see eye to eye on so much claptrap these days. But that they so readily expose their countries to the risk of economic ruin & out-of-control nuclear escalation — this I simply can't fathom.

Dear Professor Mearsheimer, thank you for your high quality academic work and discussions. They are exemplary, and they feel really nice and refreshing compared to the mainstream media style.

Assange succinctly explained why the U.S. fights modern wars in this brief 30 second clip:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IGU_7alJ80

After raping the American taxpayer for 20 years in a fake war in Afghanistan, globohomo switched locations and opted for their next forever-war in Ukraine (less than a year after their Afghanistan pullout, who would imagine that...). The objective of the military-industrial complex is not to win wars anymore, it is to provide the justification for sucking down a trillion dollars a year in American taxpayer funds for their bottom-hole graft. The Pentagon has never passed an audit and in 2013 it was estimated that $8.5 trillion dollars of Pentagon funds had been “lost”: see https://www.globalresearch.ca/massive-pentagon-waste-fraud-and-grand-theft/5358806 and https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-pentagon-waste-specialreport-idUSBRE9AH0LQ20131118
