If only we had listened to John from the beginning, countless people in both Ukraine and Russia could have continued living their lives instead of being killed, maimed, or otherwise subjected to the horrors of war. Like so many human-made tragedies, this one could have been avoided with a little wisdom, restraint, and diplomacy.

In Surgut 🇷🇺, the military command is taking people straight from the hospital despite their physical disabilities. The plan: send them to assault positions at the front or clear mines.

When you see footage of men lying on the ground, crying out for help and desperately insisting that they never signed anything, it becomes painfully clear how recruitment is actually being carried out there.

We often hear accusations about forced mobilization in 🇺🇦. But the fundamental difference cannot be ignored: Ukraine is defending its own country against a brutal invasion. In Russia, people with disabilities or those subjected to coercion are being sent to invade another country and put their lives directly in the line of fire.

These are two fundamentally different situations. Anyone seriously equating the two is simply trying to distract attention from that reality.
