Well put near the end John. And Russia wants to screw Ukraine why? It's called "NATO." And John swung the audience 12 percentage points. (I spoiled the surprise for you.)

Any Person's avatar

Putin has stated repeatedly that he preferred not using military means to stop the eastward encroachment of the US/ZATO. So not really 'screwing' Ukraine at all. Ukraine SCREWED ITSELF by listening to idiots like Nuland, Clinton, Trump, Bojo, Obama, Biden, Merkel, Macron... need I go on?

Considering Prof M had 53% before the debate began... 65% would be near-veto-power in the Congressional houses. Not that the Dems have been any better on the Ukraine file. Hunter Biden, 10% for the Big Guy?

If Russia loses, it will not be the end of Russia.

It may be the end of Putinism.

The word existential has been stretched beyond recognition in this war.

We are told that Russia faces annihilation. That NATO wants to destroy the country. That defeat in Ukraine would mean the end of Russian civilization.

Russia has survived collapse before. It survived the fall of the Soviet Union. The economic implosion of the 1990s. Chechnya. Sanctions. Oligarch wars. Demographic shocks. It will survive the era after Vladimir Putin as well.

What may not survive is Putinism — the system built on centralized power, elite loyalty networks, managed elections, and a narrative of restored great-power status.

Russia will not disintegrate overnight. Nuclear deterrence remains. The bureaucracy functions. The state continues.

Russia without Putin is entirely conceivable.

Putinism without victory is not.

If Putin and Russia fail in confronting the Rothschild Class and its satraps, so does China and the BRICS+ . Your assumptions on the 'continuation' of the forms of 'democracy' are not valid.

Most NATO countries are 'democratic' in form, yet are obviously NOT democratic in function. In the US, 70-80% of the publicare against US warmongering world wide... but has either side of the Uniparty paid even the least attention to that? EVERY? Do I need to post Goering's "No one wants war" again?

I will remind readers of the Rothschild/WEF pronouncement: "You will own nothing, rent everything and be happy". Happy OR ELSE... you are deemed a 'problem' to be eliminated, categorized as 'useless eaters' and only a fraction fit for anything beyond serving the Owners Of Everything. Techno-Neo-Feudalism.

They are deadly serious. Read Yuval Harari's 'work' if you don't believe me. Formerly Schwab's right-hand-man, now infesting the internet trying to remain relevant, craving the power he once had.

All that stands between the 8 billion people of Earth and that Great Reset panopticon power-grab is Russia and China.

Putin is demonized in the West more for his temerity to stand against the Rothschild Class than any actual malfeasance.

Oh, that billionaire, PUTZ-IN . . .

First of all, it is necessary to recall some historical elements. In 1947, when the UN “decreed” the creation of the State of Israel, the representative of the former Soviet Union (USSR, ruled by the Stalinist bureaucracy) voted together with the imperialist powers (USA, Great Britain, France). Worse, the so-called “Soviet bloc” sent arms to the Zionist Haganah militia, which were used in the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. This policy was opposed to that of Lenin, who harshly fought the Zionist current, just as it was opposed to the views of the Trotskyists of the Fourth International, who were always against the creation of the State of Israel and supported the Palestinian struggle.

After Stalin’s death, and in the framework of the so-called Cold War, the Stalinist bureaucracy changed its politics. It began to establish close relations with the bourgeois nationalist leaderships emerging in the Arab world and fighting Israel (for example, in Egypt, Syria, Iraq, the PLO, etc.). In this framework, it always acted as a “moderator” to prevent these processes from overflowing the state and the capitalist system and advancing towards socialism.

When capitalism was restored, and the USSR dissolved (at the beginning of the 1990s), a period of great political instability opened up in Russia—this period ended when Putin’s faction of bourgeois oligarchs gained an iron grip on power. An important step toward this was the counter-revolutionary war, in which he defeated the separatist forces of the small Republic of Chechnya (with a large Muslim majority)[1].

From there, Putin developed a policy of increasingly closer relations with Zionism and Israel. An example of this was the agreement he made with the government of Ariel Sharon (then Prime Minister of Israel) in the first years of the 21st century to encourage the immigration of Russian Jews to Israel, who, by the Law of Return in force in this country, automatically became Israeli citizens.

Thousands of Jews of Russian origin settled in Israel, and the number continued to increase every year. Today, it is estimated that there are about one million [2]. These immigrants have received great benefits from the Zionist state, such as land and property stolen from the Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem (the “Jewish settlers”). Therefore, they have become the front line in the defense of Israel and have been in large part responsible for the agressions against Palestinians in those places. Politically, they tend to support and vote for the far right-wing Yisrael Beteniu party, founded and headed by Avigdor Lieberman, a traditional ally of Netanyahu and minister in his government [3].

In 2007, Russia and Israel signed a “visa exemption” agreement so that citizens of each country could travel to the other without any requirement. This is something that, at the international level, only occurs between “very friendly” countries with very close relations[4].

“We Support Israel”

From then on, the Putin regime began to consider Israel as part of the “Russian world.” In 2011, Putin declared, “Israel is, in fact, a special state for us. It is practically a Russian-speaking country. […] Russian-speaking Israeli citizens are my compatriots and part of the ‘Russian world'” [5].

In this framework, this regime has always defended Israel against the Palestinian struggle and resistance. In 2006, after Hamas had taken control of the Gaza Strip, a member of the official Russian delegation visiting Israel declared: “Russia will never allow any kind of violence against Israel” [6].

In 2014, amid Israel’s bloody attack on Gaza, Putin declared that he “supported Israel’s battle to keep its citizens safe.”[7]

Politics is like sausage... no one who consumes it is likely to want to see it made.

International Workers League? OF COURSE this self-proclaimed Communist group would be anti-Putin.

The initial migration of Jewish Russians to Israel would have been seen in the same pragmatic light as how the Balfour Declaration was viewed by Brit/US politicians. A low-cost way to reduce the domestic age-old "Jewish Problem", and curry favour with the Zionist Rothschilds etc. Better to have any leave that were likely to be unsatisfied and politically aggressive as Russia adjusted after the USSR-collapse. Add in that Putin was at the same time quietly working to drive foreign Oligarchs out of Russia's banking/finance sector... the Rothschilds would have taken umbrage at Russia also actively undermining their 100-year-old Zionist Israel Project.

Putin may have hoped that placing so many Russians in Israel would soften the Zionist urges of the Israeli leadership. Unfortunately not. He certainly doesn't want to ostracize any domestic or diaspora Russian-Jewish voters by openly opposing whatever regime Israelis (and their Rothschild masters) put in place.

Bear in mind, Nutty-yahoo was instrumental in covertly building Hamas as a counterweight to the PLO and other Palestinian groups. Hiring zealots is a tricky business. Look at head-chopper Jolani (or whatever he's called today) as head of Syria... paying homage to Putin as he realizes his US/ZATO sponsors can't be trusted.

Russia will likely continue to flatter Nutty-yahoo, his Rothschild masters and Trumpty Dumbdy with claims of 'friendship' with Israel, until that runs seriously afoul of Strategic Interests like those expressed in the most recent China-Russia-Iran trilateral security agreement. The Genocide in Palestine was unfortunately not sufficient to warrant open Russian hostility towards Israel. The current Iran situation appears to be a horse of a different colour.

Definitely down in the lower range because the US and UK not only provoked the war, Western firms are profiting off it, and NATO expansion prefers Ukrainians die instead of their own.

There is nothing left to backup a meaningful conversation about peace between the five parties: USA, UK, EU, Ukraine (the stupid four headed troll) and Russia.

Because of the deadly terrorist attackers from the west, Ukrainian nazis has to be secured and contained but CIA and MI6 terrorist trained hitmen inside of Russia is also a problem to the Russian high command.

Very well argued, Professor Mearsheimer. There is a lot of evidence to back up your position and the logic at play seems to reinforce this too.

There is a large slice of the theatre of the absurd here too: a peacemaker who is no peacemaker in any way, shape or form wants to be seen to be one so much that everyone goes along with the farce because he simply took powerful to say no too. There's loads more at play, but there's an element of this for sure.

On a different note, I make the case for why the EU has ended up in a political evolutionary dead end here. This is has brought it to brink of extinction, broken its brain, and made it the dodo of world politics. I don't believe anyone has taken this angle before, Professor.

All the best,

I think that most states in the world, throughout history, have tended to suffer from pig-headedness due to a multiplicity of reasons, some perhaps realistic, others less so. This way of being and looking at things caused the complete demise of the Roman Empire, the fall of the Soviet Union, that of Imperial Japan as well as Hitler committing suicide. My examples from history all represent forms of failed diktat that found itself flailing in the larger geopolitical world out there well beyond the control that such diktat could exercise at home. Dictators are not prone to compromise because they enter into a formamentis that inhibits the possibility of thinking that they are wrong or seriously challengeable. This happens mostly due to a tendency they have of thinking that once one has been a winner, one will always necessarily be a winner. And they certainly see nothing on the homefront to disabuse them of that formamentis. But that homefront is a controlled narrative already moulded in a form that a dictator wishes with all internal opposition quashed. The larger world outside is anything but. So, to me, the longer this war drags on, the more the opportunity grows for a dictatorship to be seen as incapable of resolving its problems. Problems for Putin of producing both guns and butter are growing. His age is against him. There are unsettled problems of succession (as in all dictatorships) and Russians, however servile to diktat they have tended to be throughout history are not completely immune from terminating an administration that patently does not offer them anything anymore other than more sheer misery. Because, make no mistake, Russia is on a path of complete immiseration. This is a small economy having to serve the needs of 145 million people. An economy hemmed in by Europe, China and America, who individually are economically several times stronger than Russia because beside being more ecomically efficient than Russia they all have far deeper human resources. So, even if Russia were to 'win' the local spat against Ukraine, a rising Europe will ensure that Russia will live a very circumscribed future. At this stage, Russia's only real way out is through the USA, where it is needed for its resources and as a counterweight to China, and therefore will be accorded some grudging respect by the Americans. If Russia remains obstinately entrenched in its maximalist aims its likely future will see it uncomfortably squeezed in a hammer and anvil situation between the waxing powers of China and Europe, with all three powers (that is, including the USA) avidly surveying potentially serious Russian cracks, to swoop on the dying carcass to tear it apart. The longer Putin endures in his obstinacy, the more a doomsday scenario for Russia will become possible, as it did in the cases alluded to at the beginning of this piece.

Hanging an entire opinion on the US-generated 'failing Chinese economy' canard. The Bretton Woods US$ Reserve Currency System and its IMF/World Bank/SWIFT/BIS etc. financial/economic dictatorship is ending.

Indeed, selecting successors is a real challenge, but it appears both Russia and China have strong mechanisms in place to ensure continuation of current core tightly-controlled-oligarch banking/finance policy.

Russia cannot yield any further, economically nor militarily, so the Security Framework put forward is not 'maximalist', it is existential. The only question is how much of Ukraine must be absorbed, or just taken under control for an effective 'buffer zone'. No more than Iran can comply with Zionist demands to disarm and submit to a Neo-Shah Regime. Both countries cease to exist in current form, except as Rothschild-run vassals, if US demands are followed.

So they will fight to the last American if necessary. And Xi may try to stand back, but if Iran and Russia fall, China knows it is next. Not good odds for the US/Rothschild Empire on the warmongering front.

If Trumpy attacks Iran in any significant way, this is for all the marbles folks. And Iran has already said, 'no handbags at 2 paces' this time.

Anyone living within several miles of any US missile mainland silos, or nuke-equpped foreign bases, may want to think about moving NOW. The coordinates are already locked in at Russian and Chinese CONVENTIONAL hypersonic launchers. Nukes to follow if Israel or the US goes 'full stupid.'

Jews, man, that's how you spell IT.

The manner in which this kind of cruel tyranny could be regarded as “peace” was helpfully explained by Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, speaking in Jerusalem on September 9 2015.

We hear him addressing the question of what power the Sanhedrin – the revived supreme Jewish legislative and judicial assembly – has in respect to the rest of the world.

Ariel evokes the writing of Maimonides, the medieval rabbi whose work I have already described, tracing the authority of his judgement back to God, via Moses and the Torah.

He cites a biblical passage [Deuteronomy 20:10] which states: “When thou drawest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it”.

And he continues: “What is meant by ‘peace’? Maimonides says that they must agree to follow the 7 Noahide Laws…

“The law works differently for them. In Israel, you take the person and put him on trial. You take a convert to Judaism who did not follow the religious laws, you judge him and punish him.

“But non-Jews who do not follow the 7 Noahide Laws… you proclaim peace to them! Meaning, you ask them, ‘Do you follow the 7 Laws? If so, we will allow you to live’. If not, you kill all of their males, by sword. You leave only the women. How do you leave them? They must all agree to follow the 7 Laws. And that is how you impose the 7 Laws on that city”.

“You say, ‘I call upon you in peace’. If they raise the flag [of surrender] and say, ‘From now on there is no more Christianity, no more Islam’, the mosques and the Christian spires and their crosses come down, from now on we follow the 7 Noahide Laws'”.

“Maimonides says that if you see a person in the street who does not follow the 7 Laws – this is what he says – if we have the might, you have to kill him”.

Nice try putting words in my mouth.

If you think the Rothschilds believe in an actual God, let alone that that God directs their agenda, you are buying their bullshit. They are amoral assholes who got obscenely wealthy and powerful by ignoring every theological barrier to their actions. Jews in name only, like the crowned heads of Europe were (those that remain, are) Christian in name only. Like most US Congress Critters and POTUSs. Their reprehensible actions speak louder than their pretence to devotion.

Putin is not controlled by Russian Zionists/Chabad, nor the Russian Orthodox Patriarchs. As much as Christian Zionists love to paint Putin as kowtowing to Jews and Christians, the Russian gov't ACCOMMODATES all religions, other than those bent on usurping the Russian gov't.

Quoting a religious zealot to define a non-religious premise. Cute trick.

It's simple:

Don't Lie

Don't Cheat

Don't Steal

Don't Kill

No God required. If you need one to assuage your fears, overlay the above 4 Don'ts on any theology you choose. That alone will make you a pariah at your local Sacred Store.

Someone asked earlier Professor Mearsheimer: Russia can win the war, but can it win the peace?

What the interviewer meant is, that USA+NATO always lie (about their intentions) and cheat (on the agreements/promises that they made). Putin learned it the hard way, when Ukraine violated the 1994 Budapest Memorandum and the Minsk agreements (2014-2015). I believe, that Ukraine+NATO will continue mutual approaching regardless of the premises they make to Russia.
