Anything that could be a positive for Israel — even if it also benefits Palestinians and the broader Arab world — is automatically suspect in his view. His entire framework depends on portraying Israel as the obstacle, not the solution. So when a plan emerges that could bring stability, self-governance, and cooperation, he instinctively opposes it because it challenges his anti-Israel narrative.
For decades, Mearsheimer has framed the region through a lens of blame, insisting that Israeli strength and Western support for it are the root causes of Middle East instability.
